What is an ETC Card?

An ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) Card is a payment card used in Japan that allows drivers to pay expressway tolls automatically without stopping at toll booths.

When inserted into a vehicle equipped with an ETC onboard unit, the card enables automatic toll payments when passing through designated ETC lanes.

Benefits of Using an ETC Card

  • Convenient Toll Payments: Pass through ETC toll gates without stopping to make manual payments.
  • Faster Travel: Reduce waiting times at expressway toll booths.
  • Cashless Transactions: Toll charges are recorded electronically.
  • Discounts: Certain expressways may offer ETC discounts depending on the route, travel time, and applicable conditions.

Important Notes

  • An ETC Card is separate from the vehicle's ETC onboard unit. Having an ETC-equipped vehicle does not necessarily mean an ETC Card is included.
  • Expressway toll charges are not included in the vehicle rental fee unless otherwise specified.
  • Customers are responsible for all toll charges incurred during their rental period.
  • ETC Card availability is subject to the rental vehicle and applicable rental arrangements.
